Cavani scored twice, set up Fernandes’s opener and supplied a beautiful pass for substitute Mason Greenwood to add the coup de grace with the sixth strike. The Uruguayan was also fouled by former United centre-back Chris Smalling in the penalty incident.
Bruno, as he so often does, converted that spot-kick to make it 4-2, and claim his second of the game after a clinically taken effort in the ninth minute gave United the perfect start. Roma rallied to win 2-1 but our leading scorer had other ideas and also finished with two assists, one for Cavani’s first at the start of the second half, and the other an inviting ball for Paul Pogba’s header.
