Like his Dutch counterpart, Hodgson has had to balance several injury concerns during the opening weeks of the season and hamstring issues for Michael Olise and Odsonne Edouard are restricting his options in forward areas.
The problems extend to midfield too, as Matheus Franca (back) and Jefferson Lerma (hamstring) are thought to be sidelined until after the international break, but Naouirou Ahamada (ankle) is stepping up his recovery.
James Tomkins and Nathan Ferguson are long-term defensive absentees, although Marc Guehi and Joachim Andersen look set to rekindle their partnership at centre-back after being named on the bench in midweek.
Dean Henderson and Jairo Riedewald were both withdrawn early during Tuesday’s Carabao Cup tie and look set to miss out on a second Old Trafford appearance in five days.
