United Briefing: Marcus Rashford on his Sir Alex Ferguson regret

Upon winning the prize, the Wythenshawe man was congratulated by none other than Sir Alex himself.

“I would like congratulate Marcus on his achievement for the presentation tonight,” Sir Alex said in a video message.

“Knowing him as a kid from seven years of age, and seeing him develop through the ranks at Manchester United into a truly wonderful person. Apart from his football life, what he’s achieved in the last few months is quite astonishing.

“How he’s helped people in need, it is a truly amazing achievement and I’d like to congratulate him on that. He’s shown, to young people in particular, that it is a different way of dealing with life. He’s shown great humility, he’s shown courage to do what he’s doing, so this achievement is well deserved. And it should be recognised, what he’s done. Marcus, well done, fantastic achievement.”
