While it was a disappointing outcome for United, there were plenty of positives to take from a good performance against Sevilla and we’ve compiled some of them below with other points of interest.
BRUNO’S SCORING RUN
Fernandes put United in front when he coolly slotted his ninth-minute spot-kick past Bono. That brought his tally up to eight European goals for the season – five for Sporting, three for the Reds and two more in total than any other player in the competition. Given that there are only two matches left in this season’s Europa League, the midfielder is in with a great chance of finishing top scorer. Of the players still left in the tournament, Sevilla’s Munir has five strikes to his name, while Internazionale’s Romelu Lukaku and Junior Moraes of Shakhtar Donetsk have four.
