Sir Bobby Charlton memorial service plans confirmed

In the past week, thousands of football fans from across the UK and beyond have travelled to Old Trafford to pay their respects to Sir Bobby.

The area in front of the famous Trinity statue – where he is immortalised alongside team-mates and fellow Ballon d’Or winners George Best and Denis Law – has been filled with memorabilia and floral tributes. More than 80,000 fans have also signed the books of condolence – both online or in person at Old Trafford.

The memorabilia placed by mourning fans has been carefully relocated to the Old Trafford Museum and will join the tributes left by fans following the passing of Sir Matt Busby in 1994.

In addition, all the plastic will be removed from the floral tributes and will be recycled, and the flowers will be composted and used in the gardens at United’s Carrington Training Complex.
