Reds who were involved in international thrashings

ENGLAND 9 LUXEMBOURG 0 (1982)

Another heavy England win, this time in a qualifier for Euro 1984 in France – a tournament the Three Lions would ultimately fail to reach. Luxembourg were well beaten at Wembley, though, and United winger Steve Coppell netted the second goal, with Bryan Robson captaining his country.

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND 8 MALTA 0 (1983)

After 40 years, this is still a record win for the Boys in Green, who had Reds Kevin Moran and Frank Stapleton in the starting line-up for the European Championship qualifier. Stapleton netted the second goal from the spot, while Moran missed out on much of the fun after being subbed at half-time, with the score at 3-0.
