Man Utd goalkeeper Mary Earps named in Euro 2022 Team of the Tournament

United’s Mary kept four clean sheets in six matches during the tournament, conceding just twice – to Spain in the quarter-finals and Germany in the final.

Our no.27 helped her nation maintain a perfect defensive record throughout the group stage and made a particularly crucial save in the last-eight meeting with Spain, tipping away a goal-bound lob from Athenea del Castillo to keep the deficit at 1-0, in a game England would go on to turn around and win 2-1. 

In the semi-final triumph over Sweden, Earps played her part once more, making an important early stop to deny Sofia Jakobsson with the score goalless, as well as thwarting dangerous efforts from Stina Blackstenius either side of half-time.

At the weekend, the goalkeeper was again on hand to do her bit when called upon, most notably tipping a goal-bound Lina Magull strike on to the woodwork in the second half before staying alert to collect the rebound, as the Lionesses went on to register a historic victory at Wembley.
