Jesse Lingard sets sights on 2022 World Cup

Lingard will be looking forward to taking on Andorra on Saturday evening. When the two sides last faced each other, only a month ago at the start of September, the 28-year-old scored two and assisted one in a 4-0 victory.

Many of his United appearances thus far this season have come as a substitute because competition among the club’s attackers is intense. Four of United’s exciting forwards are all England internationals – Lingard is joined in that regard by Marcus Rashford, returning from injury soon, Mason Greenwood, and Jadon Sancho, the summer signing from Borussia Dortmund.

Speaking about Sancho, who has excited fans with his quick footwork, vision and directness, but is yet to score, Lingard said he thinks “it’s going to take some time to adapt”.
