“He’s always ready to give an answer to everyone who tries to make some jokes. He loves to joke, especially with Tom Heaton. They are always joking [in the WhatsApp group] but, apart from being a very good character, he is one of the hardest workers I’ve worked with. Since I arrived, I have been very impressed with the way he works. I know I can always count on him – on the pitch and off the pitch.”

Facundo Pellistri
“He’s quiet and humble. He works hard every day in training. You see he is improving every single day in training. He is trying to get into the team and everybody loves him, everybody knows he works hard. I see a little bit of myself in him. When I arrived, in those periods when I didn’t play as much, I always worked hard to improve myself. He’s been doing that and, like I said, he’s a very humble person and a hard-working guy.”

Anthony Martial
“He’s a little bit like that [ice cold as the fans view him] but a very friendly guy. When he has to be serious, he is. He works hard and is a very good player to train with. Apart from that, you can see, on on the pitch and in training every single day, he is a great character. He can be very serious a times and I think it’s his personality and the way he works. It’s his way and I think it’s the best way for him to focus on his work, which is very hard work.”

Marcus Rashford
“Marcus does his bit and he knows, I think he’s now maturing a little bit more, and now knows what he has to do to be ready every single game to perform like he has been doing. But he’s not been much different since I arrived. He’s always worked hard and been professional. The only difference is he is scoring a lot of goals and it gives him more confidence and helps us even more. Marcus can be, like everyone else, one of the best players in the world, for sure.”

“I’ve been very close to him since he arrived, and he is fantastic. We used to say he has a ‘pure heart’. He came from a very humble place and worked really hard to be here. You can see he has his heart, as we say in Portugal, his heart on his mouth. So, every time he feels something, he will say it and overreact straight away. You have to understand him sometimes as he is very emotional and very passionate about what he does. I think the thing that he loves most is to play football. You can see his passion on the pitch.”
