Eriksen admits he is not a great watcher of football but was happy to cheer his pals on as Casemiro and Marcus Rashford scored in the 2-0 victory over the Magpies.
“You always know when you’re in the stand, it’s a different feeling compared to being on the pitch,” he said. “It’s been nice but obviously I want to play there and be there as a player. Looking in the stands is more nerve wracking than actually playing but I kept my calm. It’s nice to see how happy they are. For everyone, it’s a big thing and I’m just happy they won the game.”
The midfielder also paid tribute to Erik ten Hag in guiding the side to success, so early into his managerial reign.
“Not many players are not happy when ending up having a manager who wins trophies,” he added. “We want to be able to win trophies and he is giving us the base to do that. The players are doing it on the pitch but he has put the guidelines and the structure of the games and picked his teams. Being in a final, first, is a big thing and winning it especially, so it’s big congratulations to him.”
