ARNAU PUIGMAL V ARSENAL (UNDER-23s)
Our youngsters recorded a creditable 3-3 draw with a Gunners’ side featuring several first-team players – and Spanish midfielder Puigmal’s Beckhamesque free-kick was the pick of the goals, one of two he scored on the day.
BRUNO FERNANDES V NEWCASTLE UNITED
This effort was United at our counter-attacking best. With minutes to play, and the game tied at 1-1, a sweeping team move saw Juan Mata play Marcus Rashford through on goal. Our no.10 could easily have gone on his own, but he had the wherewithal to sidefoot it to the onrushing Fernandes, who carefully lifted it over Karl Darlow and into the top corner. Brilliant!
AARON WAN-BISSAKA V NEWCASTLE UNITED
For your first goal in professional football, you’d take a tap-in, a deflection – anything to get off the mark. But this, from our right-back, brought back memories of Brazil’s Carlos Alberto in 1970 as he marauded into the box and slammed the ball home to make the game safe.
