Mason Mount is making some progress, while it will be hoped Rasmus Hojlund came through the RAMS Park clash unscathed, after he was substituted during the second half, following his recent lay-off.

“We have many options but we have to manage the load of the players,” Erik said at his press conference to preview the weekend action. “It is also about freshness as well.

“Mason Mount is, today, returning on the [training] pitch, but I don’t know how long it will take until he returns [to play]. I can’t say in this moment.”

We revealed earlier that Tyrell Malacia is due back from a knee injury in January, as he looks to get his 2023/24 campaign under way.

In his interview with Sam Carney for club media, the boss added: “There are updates, so Ty Malacia, he had surgery and he will return in quite short notice. I think, from new year on, he can be available. But it’s very good that Luke Shaw made his return in this week. We are happy with that and also the others, they are working very hard to return as soon as possible to the team.”
