In our latest episode of The Debate, former United Women and England goalkeeper Siobhan Chamberlain is quick to praise Mary’s achievements Down Under.
“She had a fantastic tournament and there is no debating she is a worthy, worthy winner of that Golden Glove,” says Siobhan. “To see the performance she put in for the final and not come away with a winners’ medal was really hard to take.
“It is a team game and everyone has to put in a performance, but she was fantastic. Saving a penalty in a World Cup final, making big saves in big moments for the team, her distribution was great, the way she commanded the team, the way she led from the back, you couldn’t have asked for more.
“She will be hugely disappointed, I am sure, but you can’t ask for more from herself and she should be proud of the performances she put in.”
