West Ham haven’t had a good run of games in the WSL most recently. Does that give you more confidence going into this?
“We have confidence regardless. I think you grow confidence from your performances. That’s what we are here to do. We are here to perform at the very best of our ability, show our qualities and so regardless of what West Ham have had or not had, we have to treat them like the competitors that they are, the quality team that they are and we have to go in and give our all. If we do that, we will always put ourselves in the best opportunity of getting the best performance and result, and that’s what we’re going to do.”
There are so many role models in this team, and going into a game like this at the Theatre of Dreams there’s always some young teams around – boys and girls that will be watching – and we really need to put on a good show for them don’t we?
“We try our very best every day. I think you’re quite right in saying that there are many, many role models in this team. Some are unsung heroes as well. They go throughout the games and they give absolutely everything and they might not score, might not assist, but they give absolutely everything for the team. Those people will help us to gain success in the future. That’s what we’re building towards. They are very inspirational for everybody. Boys, girls, [it] doesn’t really matter. We are a team that we are looking to inspire the next generation and we are duty-bound to give our very best in every game in order to do that.”
