Women’s match preview Bristol City v Man Utd 2 May 2021

HEAD-TO-HEAD RECORD

The reverse fixture in this season’s WSL saw United run out 6-1 winners at Leigh Sports Village, in the second-ever meeting between the sides. Goals from Jess Sigsworth, Millie Turner, and braces from Galton and Heath gave United our biggest league win of this season so far. The first of the two previous meetings came in January 2020, in which Bristol City ran out 1-0 victors in Manchester courtesy of an Ebony Salmon strike.

FORM GUIDE

Stoney’s side have had an inconsistent set of recent results, winning three of the last five and losing two. This is further highlighted in 2021, with United taking 12 points from a possible 27 (four wins, five losses).

Meanwhile, Bristol City are without a win in five league games, drawing three times and losing twice. Last weekend saw them score a 95th-minute equaliser to snatch a draw at Aston Villa, a result that very much keeps the relegation battle alive. The Vixens have won only twice all season in the WSL and will almost certainly have to increase that number if they are avoid the drop.
