Maya Le Tisser reacts to Man City v Man Utd Women 11 December 2022

The second half was very open, with both sides pushing for all three points. Le Tissier explained how she wanted the Reds to exploit spaces in City’s backline more, but still maintained that she felt the Reds had done enough to get the win at the Etihad Stadium.

“We knew they were going to come out hard and press a little bit higher,” she said of the start of the second period, at which point United had a one-goal lead.

“It was important to find the right spaces where we could try and keep them at bay. They’ve got some great players, of course, but we thought we did enough to win the game.

“With them going a bit higher it creates more space in the pockets and in behind as well, we could have used that a little bit better, but I think we created enough chances to win the game.”
