Our young Reds started the game strongly, creating the better of the chances in the opening 45 minutes. Reece Munro was unlucky early on, but his effort from close range was closed down promptly by the Forest backline. A few moments later, opposition full-back Henry Lister whipped a teasing ball into the box that was met by Connor Brown at the back post, but his attempt didn’t trouble Thomas Myles.

We came close twice more as the half advanced, with shots from midfield duo Jayce Fitzgerald and Ruben Curley, the former’s effort was comfortably saved while the latter’s, from range, was tipped over.

An otherwise evenly contested first period changed quickly in the approach to half-time, with Ashton Missin shown a red card following his second yellow in quick succession. Moments later, Danny Anisjko was brought down by our shot-stopper, Myles, in the area. Brown – who had been denied one-on-one by Myles earlier in the game – slotted home the penalty to give Forest the lead.
