It’s been a difficult season, thus far, on the blue half of Merseyside, with Frank Lampard’s Toffees continuing in their fight to avoid the drop. Everton currently occupy 17th spot in the league table, with their safety net cut to just a point following Wednesday evening’s late defeat at Burnley. Since the former Chelsea player and manager took over in January, both of the club’s league wins during his reign have come on home turf, with the Blues without a victory on the road in the Premier League since August.
TEAM NEWS
Former Reds defender Michael Keane, and midfielder Allan will both be eligible to return to the Blues’ side on Saturday having completed their respective suspensions during the midweek trip to Burnley. United’s Donny van de Beek, on loan at Goodison Park, also missed the game at Turf Moor due to a thigh injury sustained last weekend, but is unable to face his parent club anyway. Yerry Mina was also an Everton absentee at Burnley.
As for the Reds, Rangnick will provide a more detailed insight into how his squad is shaping up for the fixture during his pre-match press conference on Friday, but what we do know is that it is likely he will have the services of Cristiano Ronaldo to call upon once again, after the forward returned to training this week, having missed last weekend’s visit of Leicester through illness. Jesse Lingard has also been pictured training this week having felt unwell during Saturday’s outing, while it remains to be seen if full-back Luke Shaw is fit enough to feature, having been forced off early with a problem in that draw.
