THE OPPOSITION

West Ham are targeting their highest-ever finish in the Women’s Super League, occupying sixth position in the 12-team table with two games to go. The Hammers have never finished in the top half of the competition before and have already amassed their club-record WSL points tally this season, following victory over Reading last weekend. Olli Harder’s side could end the campaign as high as fifth and will be keen to take the spoils again this Sunday in order to fend off the chasing pack of Brighton, Reading and Aston Villa, who follow closely and can still mathematically catch them over the coming weeks.

TEAM NEWS

Diane Caldwell, Kirsty Smith and Lucy Staniforth all returned to the matchday squad from injury setbacks last weekend, with the latter getting minutes on the pitch for the first time this calendar year. Signe Bruun hasn’t played since missing Denmark’s fixtures over the recent international break earlier this month, while defenders Aoife Mannion and Millie Turner have been longer-term absentees. Head coach Marc Skinner will likely provide an update on how the squad is shaping up for Sunday’s clash during his interview with club media towards the end of the week.
