Leicester defeat at Spurs boosts Man Utd Champions League prospects

While the Reds were focused on the Emirates FA Cup semi-final at Wembley, action taking place elsewhere was having a bearing on the race for Europe in the Premier League table.

Leicester City, who started the day in the fourth and final Champions League place and ahead of United on goal difference, had an opportunity to pull clear as they travelled to North London to face Tottenham Hotspur.

However, the Foxes were humbled by a Spurs side managed by former Reds boss Jose Mourinho, falling to a 3-0 defeat after an own goal from James Justin and two strikes from Harry Kane. All of the goals were scored in the first half.

The result means the Reds now have the same goal difference as Leicester, who only remain ahead of us in the table due to goals scored, having netted 67 times in the league compared to our 63.
