How donations from Man Utd fans are helping vital UNICEF work after Turkey and Syria earthquakes

UNICEF’S RESPONSE IN SYRIA

Because UNICEF already had key life-saving supplies in Syria, it was able to reach people affected within 48 hours of the earthquake. The delivered items included hygiene kits, drinking water and high-energy biscuits.

Health & nutrition – 31,500 people have been provided with health and nutrition supplies and 7,900 children under five have been screened for malnutrition
Safe water & hygiene – UNICEF has provided access to safe drinking water and sanitation to 200,000 people
Child wellbeing – 18,000 children, parents, and caregivers have received psychological first aid
Education – UNICEF is setting up temporary learning spaces and providing education supplies for 50,000 children, and assessing 221 schools for repairs

UNICEF’S RESPONSE IN TURKEY

Critical supplies – Over 132,000 children now have access to critical supplies, including winter clothing, hygiene kits and electric heaters
Shelter – 107 youth centres and dormitories have been converted into temporary accommodation
Child wellbeing – Over 3,200 children have received psychological first aid
Education – UNICEF is working with its partners to develop a plan to get children back into the classroom
