Irene was part of the Spain squad that defeated England’s Lionesses in the final of the 2023 World Cup in Sydney. The 26-year-old says that while the achievement is one she will savour forever, the impact beyond the white lines of a football pitch will shape younger generations.
“It was an incredible moment that I’ll never forget,” she said.
“It wasn’t just winning the trophy, it was about showing young boys and girls it is possible.”
Our new recruit will no doubt be looking to inspire future generations at United as well, as she begins her career in English football.
