David De Gea and Mary Earps pose with Golden Glove awards 2022 23

Earps kept her 14th clean sheet of the campaign in United’s 1-0 win at Liverpool on the final day of the WSL term.

The Reds’ efforts on Saturday unfortunately weren’t enough for the title, with leaders Chelsea also victorious on the afternoon, but it did bring down the curtain on a record-breaking season for Marc Skinner’s side, who recorded a second-place finish in the end.

Mary’s tally – on her way to winning the prize for the first time since it was introduced in 2019/20 – was also a milestone in itself, with no goalkeeper ever keeping more clean sheets in a single term of the competition than our women’s team’s no.27 did in 2022/23.

Our keepers also became just the second duo to win the respective Golden Glove prizes in the Premier League and the WSL in the same year after Manchester City’s Ederson and Ellie Roebuck achieved the feat in the inaugural season of the women’s accolade.
