Bruno Fernandes, who was voted the Man of the Match against the Magpies, praised our right-back after his first goal but admits he was surprised to see a goal of that quality.
“
We didn’t know he could shoot,” Fernandes joked to MUTV.
“It’s difficult to believe that he can score because we never see him shoot. We were joking to him in the dressing room, saying that we all thought he wanted to cross and he had a bad one and scored.”
Also United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took a friendly little dig at his right-back.
“It’s a cross! No, he was due his goal. I thought today we wanted him higher up the pitch, making runs in behind. It was great for him,”
Ole said.
Despite his colleagues’ scepticism, the goalscorer assured us: “This one was a shot.”
